Surf Etiquette in 60 Seconds
Surf Etiquette in 60 Seconds
Catching waves is the fun part. Sharing the water is the real test.
Don’t drop in
- If someone’s already on the wave, it’s theirs. Wait your turn.
Closest to the peak has priority
- The surfer nearest the breaking part of the wave goes first. Everyone else yields.
Paddle around the lineup
- Don’t paddle straight through people who are sitting and waiting. Go wide.
One person, one wave
- Take your wave, then paddle back out. Don’t hog the peak.
Respect gets you waves.
Ego gets you a reputation.
- Share the water. You’ll get more waves.
- Choosing a selection results in a full page refresh.
- Opens in a new window.
