Charli Hately, 17, wins the São Sebastião Pro

Charli Hately is 17, from Australia. On October 3 she won the Banco do Brasil São Sebastião Pro at Maresias — her first Challenger Series final, and her first title.

In the final she beat Francisca Veselko of Portugal 14.33 to 10.67, with a 7.83 and a 6.50. In the semi she was behind Anat Lelior for 20 minutes, then found the rights and won 13.83 to 10.97.

The win is worth 10,000 ranking points. She jumped to 10th on the Challenger Series. Her mom met her at the water’s edge.
