SurfMAD! — Speed. Power. Flow.
Natural Selection Surf is Travis Rice’s no-score-sheet contest: 12 freesurfers, remote waves, judges watching creativity and risk instead of a heat clock. Year two left Micronesia for 10 days on South Africa’s Western Cape.
Mikey Wright (Australia) and Kirra Pinkerton (San Clemente) came out on top after a week of camping, hunting setups, and surfing whatever the Atlantic served. Surfer reports it came down to the final waves.
Pinkerton was a 2025 finalist. Wright was a 2026 invite. Defending champs Soli Bailey and Milla “Coco” Brown were in the same field. The film dropped September 25 on Red Bull TV and YouTube.
That’s the MAD! mindset — desire, eagerness, and enthusiasm when it counts.
